Information you provide directly
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Profile information: phone number, bio, profile photo, and role (stylist, salon owner, or both)
- Salon information: salon name, address, photos, amenities, house rules, and chair pricing (for salon owners)
- Booking information: booking dates, times, and preferences
- Communications: messages sent through our in-app messaging system
Information collected automatically
- Device information: browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns
- Location data: approximate location based on IP address, and precise location only if you explicitly grant permission for salon search features
Information from third parties
- Social login data: if you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from those services
- Payment information: Stripe processes all payments and provides us with transaction confirmation details (we do not store your full credit card number)
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the ChairHop platform
- Process bookings and facilitate payments between users
- Send transactional communications (booking confirmations, payment receipts, account notifications)
- Enable in-app messaging between stylists and salon owners
- Display relevant salon search results based on location
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate ChairHop:
- Convex — our backend database and real-time infrastructure
- Stripe — payment processing and Stripe Connect for salon owner payouts
- Google — social authentication (Sign in with Google)
- Apple — social authentication (Sign in with Apple)
- Vercel — website hosting and deployment
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data. We encourage you to review their policies.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our agreements).
Booking records and payment transaction data may be retained for up to 7 years for financial and tax compliance purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), encrypted storage for sensitive data, and secure authentication practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
